Housing Europe: Boosting Energy Communities in the EU

Brussels, L42 Business Centre and Workspaces
    Organiser: Others

To achieve EU's ambitious climate objectives, we need to increase the part of renewable energy production. One of the ways is by establishing and managing renewable energy communities.

Energy communities remain a relatively small part of the energy mix in the EU. Many potential communities complain of burdensome legislation and bureaucracy, as well as a lack of knowledge or experience on the part of ordinary households on their potential to take control of their own renewable energy future.

This half-day conference will bring together leading experts on energy communities from across the EU to discuss the next steps in upscaling and mainstreaming energy communities.

Co-organised by Housing Europe and the International Union of Property Owners (UIPI) as part of the EU project NRG2Peers, the event includes an opening address by MEP Markus Pieper (EPP, Germany), and Rapporteur on the amendment of the ‘Renewable Energy Directive’ (RED II).

It will also offer a unique networking opportunity for those involved and interested in energy communities. Thus, after two years of disruption, this in-person event is not to be missed.
